Hello, my name is Jane and I’ve been writing here at Picnic By The Motorway since 2002. Sadly, I have been thwarted by The Internet on a number of occasions, which means the archives on this incarnation of PBTM only go back a few years. As a result, my oldschool melancholic ramblings about boyfriends past and effusive gushing about some pretty crap music has been lost for all eternity.
I live in Auckland, New Zealand with my boyfriend Joel, our toddler Victor and baby twins Jude and Maisie. I used to work in music telly – that’s what I was doing when I kicked off this blog. I did some time in communications for a record label and have previously blogged for Stuff and Essential Mums. In 2011 I won a Canon Media Award for ‘Best Online Blog/Commentary’ for my contributions to Stuff – that was pretty cool and surreal because the last award I won before that was the reading cup in Form 2.
These days I busy myself hanging out washing, vacuuming, unloading the dishwasher and daydreaming about taking naps – but my primary role is ensuring my sons and daughter are watered and fed (and laughing as often as possible).
I’m all about online interaction so please feel free to comment on my entries – I like learning about you guys too.
Thanks for stopping by, I appreciate you taking the time to have a look around, and I hope you find something here that makes you want to come back for a cuppa again soon.
